AXA XL launches vehicle interruption cover for Uber drivers

AXA XL has launched a new cover designed to help Uber drivers across the UK offset loss of earnings if they are unable to work, in the event that their vehicle is immobilised for a minimum of 24 hours following an accident.

Vehicle Interruption Cover works alongside Uber’s newly-implemented UK loyalty programme, UberPro. It provides a lump-sum benefit of up to £450 to affected drivers. For UberPro partners at Diamond level, Uber will contribute the premium for this cover.

AXA XL said that the cover is available on the Uber app and is fully flexible to fit drivers’ workstyles.

The product also uses a new global affinity insurance platform. This public cloud technology supports agile product design and API-led distribution for insurance, which here is connected in real-time with the Uber application.

AXA XL and Uber intend to use the new platform to provide future insurance products to Uber partners and couriers.

Vehicle Interruption Cover will initially be available for all Uber drivers in the UK. Both companies aim in time to expand the offer to Uber drivers in other European countries.
