Ascot moves into professional indemnity

Ascot has established a foothold in the professional indemnity market with the hire of a team from Neon Underwriting headed up by class underwriter Antonio Bellanca. He is being joined by fellow Neon underwriters, Matthew Watson, Manoj Sharma and Henry Hollingdale.

The team, which is due to start at Ascot on the 1st April will write non-US international PI classes at Lloyd’s on behalf of Ascot Syndicate 1414.

Bellanca will report to David Fitzpatrick, Ascot’s executive underwriter.

Andrew Brooks, Ascot Group CEO commented that the move underlined the businesses “long-held ambition to add a professional Indemnity business to its international casualty portfolio.”

Bellenca added: “We are very excited to be joining Ascot. The strength and reputation of the company will allow us to maintain our strong leadership position and help us build out our product focused strategy, pursuing niche distribution worldwide. This is a very positive move for our clients, cover holders and brokers.”
