German insurtech Getsafe unveils UK launch

German insurtech, Getsafe has launched its digital contents insurance product in the UK, marking the first stage of the company’s expansion plans across Europe. The firm has established an independent subsidiary based in London and has partnered with Hiscox for its launch in the UK market, viewed as “a key priority for its European expansion” and the largest market in Europe in terms of e-commerce.

Based in Heidelberg, the company offers a modular insurance available through a mobile app. The product can be adapted to the user’s needs and easily cancellable.

UK customers can add personal possessions cover and accidental damage to their contents policy and the offering also provides access to a claims chatbot 24/7.

Chief executive officer and founder of Getsafe, Christian Wiens said: “Over the last two years, we have shown that our product meets a core need for the young, tech-savvy generation. With our insurance delivered through your smartphone, we are developing a product that fits perfectly with the living and communication habits of this generation.

“Getsafe acts as a platform with multiple carriers, including Munich Re and AXA, providing the capacity in the background. With Hiscox, we have a renowned carrier for our UK contents product at our side and are pleased to be working with them,” he added.
