Ardonagh Advisory has acquired PB Curran, an independent broker specialising in commercial, landlords, farming and private client insurance, and will add it to its Ethos Broking stable.
With more than 50 years’ experience in GI, PB Curran has long-standing relationships in place with insurers and clients across the UK. The firm was founded in 1961 by Patrick Curran – father of current director Edward Curran’s father – and has grown through a series of strategic acquisitions. The business employs nearly 40 people and operates from three locations with headquarters in York, and two additional offices in Middlesbrough and Ossett.
On completion of the deal, PB Curran will join Ethos Broking, building its presence in Yorkshire and the North East of England together with Ethos brokers Schofield, Lockyer and BSIS. Director Edward Curran will continue to run the business day-to-day, working with Richard Tuplin, who leads Ethos Broking as part of his role as CEO of Advisory Insurance Brokers and Alan Sumner, regional managing director, Ethos Broking.
Edward Curran, director at PB Curran, said: “PB Curran is a family-run broker, with decades of experience, serving our clients and developing trusted relationships, so when it came to taking our next steps, it was incredibly important to make the right decision.
“The opportunity presented by Ethos, was hugely compelling and we know that we will be able to continue to the run the business in a way that completely aligns with our values. Ethos represents a new chapter for PB Curran, and we’re excited by the many possibilities available within Ethos and the wider Ardonagh Advisory platform.”
