Telematics technology specialist Trakm8 has launched an enhanced automated returns solution designed to make it simpler for policyholders to send their telematics device back at the end of policies.
The firm says its scheme has already doubled the number of devices being recycled, enabling thousands of devices to be re-used multiple times, reducing strains on global supply chains for electronic components.
The average return rate of insurance telematics devices in the UK is below 30%, meaning that thousands of devices that are fitted to vehicles are either left in the vehicle, kept unused at the policyholders’ residence, or disposed of incorrectly. Trakm8’s returns scheme offers insurers an automated service, making it easy for policyholders to understand how to return the device, highlighting the environmental benefits and offering a zero-cost easy-to-return option when policies end.
Adam Gooch, managing director for insurance at Trakm8, said: “We are delighted that our automated returns solution has already had such a huge impact with several of our insurance partners allowing us to recycle many more devices.
“The team at Trakm8 are continually striving to improve our solutions for insurers, save them money and develop automated solutions that positively impact the environment. We are now actively rolling this service out to our wider range of insurers.”
