The Lloyd’s Market Association and the International Underwriting Association have expanded their job simulation programme to give newcomers to the London market a better idea of what to expect when researching a possible role in this part of the insurance sector.
Building on the success of the claims job simulations launched in 2024, the associations have made similar propositions for underwriting and operating roles. The online simulations have been developed in partnership with workforce readiness platform Forage.
They seek to provide an immersive experience of the practicalities of working in the market, opportunities to build and apply relevant skills and access to career guides and job opportunities.
Joe Brace, operations director at the LMA, said: “Attracting the next generation is essential to the success of the insurance market. These job simulations provide students with a practical introduction to careers in underwriting and operations, helping them understand the skills required and the vital roles these functions play in delivering insurance solutions.”
Tom Hughes, director of underwriting at the IUA, added: “In recent months we have seen a number of applicants coming to the London market having previously completed the Forage job simulations for claims handling.
“The feedback on these courses has been excellent, with students feeling they offer a valuable opportunity to develop skills and learn about our sector. Expanding the selection to include underwriting and operations will undoubtedly help us to attract the professional talent we need to thrive as an industry.”
