CII names new president for 2027

The Chartered Insurance Institute has appointed Debbie Mitchell as its president for next year and named Mandy Hunt as the incoming deputy president. Hunt will take over the presidency in 2028, the first time in the CII’s history there have been consecutive female presidents.

Mitchell is a director of Aberdeen-based financial planning firm, Atholl Scott Financial Services. She was the first female president of the Aberdeen Institute of Insurance and Financial Planning (2011 to 2013).

She is also a past chair of the Personal Finance Society’s North Scotland region and a former member of the CII Representative Council and Local Institute National Forum. She has served on the CII Group engagement board and has been a PFS board director.

Hunt is managing director of Shape Underwriting, the MGA division of The Clear Group. Prior to this she spent 25 years with RSA (now Intact Insurance).

Mitchell said: “I am so grateful to the membership for entrusting me with this position. I have enjoyed my deputy year enormously and look forward to working with all stakeholders in the coming year to continue to evolve and improve the work of the Institute.”

Hunt added: “I would like to congratulate Debbie on her appointment as president and I look forward to supporting her in that role. I am incredibly humbled in receiving the support of CII members in becoming deputy president next year.”
