Cover Genius partners with Icelandair

Icelandair is partnering with Cover Genius to offer embedded COVID cover for its worldwide customers.

The new COVID Plus Medical Cover will ensure that travellers and their travel companions are covered if they get COVID-19 or another illness or injury while travelling, or if they need medical assistance while they are overseas.

“As a leading international airline, our mission is to offer our passengers the best services both on the ground and in the air. Our integration of Cover Genius’ XCover platform into our booking process means we can now offer our passengers and their travel partners peace of mind during their travel” said Icelandair’s Birna Ósk Einarsdóttir. “We are proud to partner with Cover Genius, a customer centric brand by bringing an end-to-end solution and world-leading technology to overcome traditional insurance barriers.”

Appetite to travel is picking up, despite ongoing restrictions. According to a recent survey from digital agency, Freestyle, 73% of Brits are planning a holiday this year. Icelandair is the first airline to offer all its customers COVID protection through Cover Genius

Peter Smith, head of travel partnerships, EMEA at Cover Genius comments, “It's been Cover Genius’ mission from the get-go to help the world’s largest technology companies to offer tailored protection to their worldwide customers. We have recently partnered with the likes of Skyscanner, Despegar, Booking Holdings, Intuit, eBay, Wayfair and others who have integrated XCover to embed insurance, including instant payments of approved claims, to make sure that customers get back on their feet quickly when things go wrong. We are very excited to partner with Icelandair, a leading airline with its hub in Keflavík, Iceland with substantial US bookings, who prioritise their customers’ safety and loyalty through the use of our XCover platform and we look forward to expanding our relationship to restore confidence for travellers all over the world.”

Available through XCover, the new policy is live in Europe, with the US and Canada to follow soon.
