Aon has today filed a preliminary proxy statement to move the jurisdiction of incorporation for its parent company from the UK to Ireland.
The operating company headquarters will remain at the Leadenhall Building in London. The shift will not result in any material change to the company’s current business operations, reporting requirements or listings.
The firm said its commitment to the UK and the London insurance market “remains unchanged and unrivalled”. Remaining in the EU was necessary however, to “help maintain a stable corporate structure and capital flexibility”.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020. It will first require the approval of shareholders. The company will then have to submit an application to the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.
