Hyperion and JLT settle employee poaching lawsuit

Hyperion and Jardine Lloyd Thompson have reached a confidential settlement over a poaching lawsuit initiated by the latter in July 2019. Details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Shortly after Marsh-owner Marsh & McLennan Companies completed JLT’s purchase in April 2019, 47 employees left the company to join Hyperion. The move led the broker to file a lawsuit, accusing its competitor of ‘coordinating’ the resignations for its own gain.

In a statement, Hyperion disclosed: “As part of the settlement, the parties have agreed that the relevant employees will continue to be bound by their obligations to JLT, including their notice periods and post-termination restrictive covenants.”
