MS Amlin exits from aviation

MS Amlin has today confirmed its withdrawal from the aviation insurance market on both renewal and new business.

The firm said that this change would not affect the aviation hull war portfolio, which will continue to be underwritten by the existing war team.

The announcement is said to underpin the firm’s strategy to refocus its capital and efforts on specific areas to support its growth ambitions. It follows a report published earlier this month outlining that the firm would exit nine business classes and operations.

Simon Beale, MS Amlin chief executive officer said: “The run-off of the aviation insurance book will allow us to focus our attention on our new underwriting strategy and build on the progress we have made in restoring profitability.

“In order to ensure continuity of service for our clients we will manage the run-off ourselves,” he added. “We are committed to supporting both our customers and our people through this change.”
