CRIF Decisions Solutions has developed Sherlock Alert to notify fraud prevention teams of suspicious personal injury claims and to give them time to gather evidence and consider their position on fault within the 30-business-day timeframe.
Sherlock Alert checks if a claimant’s National Insurance Number may have been altered. Pilot projects found that 5% of submitted personal injury claims had a National Insurance Number mismatch and further investigation found 0.7% of these claims to be fraudulent.
CRIF Decision Solutions said the savings made by identifying these claims offered a ‘guaranteed’ return on the license fee for Sherlock Alert.
Sara Costantini (pictured), director at CRIF Decision Solutions said: “The market is facing challenging times with new types of fraud, like claims farming and identity theft, and we listened to clients’ needs and designed Sherlock Alert with their input.
“The concept has been warmly welcomed and our R&D team are now busy looking at additional data sets and alert subjects which will bring extended value to our insurer and compensator client community and the wider market.”
