Insurers achieve mixed results on customer satisfaction

Data from the Chartered Insurance Institute has found that overall customer satisfaction with travel insurance policies (87%) has hit its highest level since it began its Public Trust Index survey in 2018. Despite this, there has been a downward movement in satisfaction among those aged 55 and over.

The index found that satisfaction for buildings and/or contents insurance was steady at 81%, while consumer satisfaction with motor insurance policies fell 2 percentage points to 85%.

Alan Vallance (pictured), group chief executive at the CII, said: “Our Public Trust Index is an important barometer for the whole insurance profession. While it’s pleasing to see an improving picture for some groups of consumers, and for some policies, much like our UK summer it’s by no means a sunny outlook across the insurance market.

“The CII encourages our members and other sector participants to act on these latest findings, to maintain and build public trust in the insurance profession.”
