Managing general agent Pen Underwriting has launched a new proposition for the waste-to-energy anaerobic digestion industry. Pen has created a suite of insurance options to cover the property and liability exposures faced by anaerobic digestion businesses operating in areas such as wastewater treatment, animal and farming waste, food and drink production, landfill and recycling.
Pen said the proposition was backed by A-rated capacity and insureds would benefit from access to emergency environmental response teams on a 24/7 and 365 days of the year basis.
Adam Shefras, managing director of hazardous goods and environmental industries at Pen Underwriting, said: “Anaerobic digestion not only plays a vital dual role in sustainable waste management and clean energy production, but also has a crucial part to play in the UK’s strategy to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
“Given its alignment to many of the industries and activities we already support, it was our natural entry point into the renewable energy sector.”
