Admiral Business expands into taxi market

Admiral Business has launched a new taxi insurance proposition for public and private hire drivers, adding to the products it offers to SMEs, sole traders and contractors. Initially, Admiral Business will offer single vehicle taxi cover with plans to extend this to fleets later in the year.

The carrier said its new taxi offering would be available through specialist brokers and supported by a dedicated repair network.

Edward Hill, chief commercial officer at Admiral Business, said: “Taxi drivers face unique pressures every day and by working with specialist brokers that know the market really well, we’re building an insurance experience that genuinely supports them. We’re excited to enter this market and continue growing Admiral Business in areas where we can make a meaningful difference.”

Patons Insurance is one of the brokers that Admiral Business is using for distribution.

Darren Roberts, managing director at Patons Insurance, said: “Admiral is a major UK motor insurer, covering almost 20% of the private cars on our roads. That depth of knowledge brings a wealth of expertise to our sector along with an extensive claims network of approved repair facilities across the country – something that our taxi customers may now benefit from through the potential of insuring their private hire or taxi vehicle with Admiral Business.”
