Admiral Group has reported turnover of £3.1bn for H1 2026, which was the same as in the same period last year. Customer numbers rose by 600,000 to reach 12 million, but profit before tax fell by £92m (18%) to £429m. The combined operating ratio deteriorated slightly, moving up from 77.7% to 78.5%.
In its UK insurance division, customer numbers rose by 400,000 to reach 9.7 million. Profit before tax fell from £584m to £485m, mainly made up by its motor portfolio. Profit before tax across Admiral’s UK travel, pet and household rose from £25m to £28m.
Milena Mondini de Focatiis, group chief executive officer of Admiral, said: “We have delivered good results in the first half of the year with continued growth in customer numbers and progress across our strategic objectives. We are announcing a group profit of £429m and now serve more than 12 million customers, underpinned by our focus on being the insurer of choice for the greatest number of people through competitively priced products and great service.
“Against more challenging market conditions, we are pricing for long-term sustainable growth with our UK motor business having increased rates earlier than the market, following a softer period in the cycle. We are proud of our continued profitable growth in our other UK personal lines and European insurance businesses, and Admiral Money. In addition, the acquisition of Flock is complete and integration is progressing well.”
