Small business and landlord insurance specialist Simply Business has introduced a pet property damage product in partnership with Elevate Specialty. The cover offers up to £5,000 of protection with no excess.
Research from Simply Business found that around 4m tenants in England have got, or plan to get, pets this year, highlighting a significant shift in demand. To help landlords manage this transition, the new policy offers an additional layer of protection and includes accidental damage and fixtures and fittings protection.
Julie Fisher, UK CEO at Simply Business, said: “With the Renters Rights Bill fundamentally changing the landscape for landlords and tenants, we want to ensure our customers feel protected against new risks. Committed to helping landlords navigate these regulatory changes with confidence, our new pet property damage cover provides a solution that helps protect their investment while accommodating the growing number of tenants who want to own a pet.”
Mickey Attia, CEO of Elevate Specialty, added: “This proposition supports landlords across the tenancy journey, from accidental pet damage during the tenancy to qualifying damage and cleaning costs at check-out. With practical legal support to help evidence, negotiate and resolve disputed deductions, that means earlier support, greater certainty and a clearer route to recovery.”
