Managing general agent NBS Underwriting has launched a thatched home insurance product and says the move reflects broker demand for increased choice in this specialised sector of the non-standard home insurance market. The product is initially available through a limited number of NBS Underwriting’s broker partners.
Capacity for the new product comes from Hadron. It will consider risks involving non-standard construction, claims-heavy histories, convictions, subsidence and policyholders with CCJs.
Hadron joined NBS Underwriting’s non-standard property panel earlier this year. The MGA says the addition has helped it broaden its risk appetite and offer greater flexibility on more complex risks.
Chris Duck, head of property underwriting at NBS Underwriting, said: “With extensive experience in the thatched property market, I know how important it is to take a specialist approach to these risks. We’ve used that expertise, alongside broker feedback, to help shape the product and create an appetite that gives brokers more options.”
