The Financial Conduct Authority has issued a warning that GoTempCover Limited is a clone and is not authorised by the regulator. It says it is using the email support@gotempcover.com and the web sites drivewisely.app and gotempcover.com as part of the scam.

The FCA said the genuine, authorised business is Accelerant Insurance UK Limited and that it has no connection with the clone firm.

Consumers duped by clone firms do not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they want to complain and are not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if there is a problem.

Payments sent to a fraudster on or after 7th October 2024 may be covered by protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR), but the FCA urges consumers to check the details of firms they are engaging with at its online firm checker service, which details the firms it authorises and the services they are permitted to provide.
