Loss adjuster QuestGates plans to create a subsidence claims development academy in Northampton under plans to boost its subsidence expertise.
Dave Clare, head of surveying services commented: “Given the lack of volume of claims in this sector in recent years, subsidence had become a forgotten peril. Our engineers and surveyors responded well during the 2018 surge of claims utilising advances in digital technology and our existing strong, committed and highly technical team but, the biggest learning for me is, that as an industry, we cannot continue to rely on an ever depleting resource.”
Clare added that following a “proactive recruitment programme to add to our subsidence expertise prior to the current crisis, the time feels right to go back to basics with attracting, developing and growing new subsidence talent".
QuestGates commented that it had already restructured and doubled the size of its current subsidence team, bringing in a mix of qualified engineers, graduates and claims handlers/construction professional apprentices. The new recruits will be provided with on the job learning, underpinned by professional qualifications, as well as undertaking loss adjusting qualifications.
The academy will be based at QuestGates new hub in Northampton which will also provide valuation and validation expertise, project managed perils and support the company’s third-party property and tree root liability services.
