Bailie to head up BGL

Mark Bailie is set to take over as chief executive of BGL Group in September as long-standing CEO Matthew Donaldson steps down this week from the broker after seven years in the role.

Bailie was most recently chief executive of Royal Bank of Scotland's digital banking app, Bó, which he also founded. He spent ten years at RBS, where he was appointed chief operating officer in 2016, prior to which he worked in private equity having started his career at PwC..

Bailie is currently on secondment as one of the four business unit leads for the NHS Test & Trace service, part of the Government’s response to coronavirus. The secondment will conclude prior to him joining BGL.

In the interim between Donaldson’s departure on the 19th June and Bailie coming on board on the 1st September, Dominic Platt, chief finance officer will act as CEO.

Debbie Hewitt MBE, BGL Group chair, commented: “I am pleased to welcome Mark to our business. He has an extensive background in developing digital strategies for consumer facing businesses, as well as proven hands-on operational expertise and regulatory credentials, having sat on the FCA Open Finance Advisory Panel. He is thoroughly familiar with regulated and private equity-owned businesses and will bring strong consumer, people and brand-led experience.”
