Tough times demand excellent communication skills

Covid-19, a hardening market and increased remote working are all creating significant challenges for insurance brokers and putting pressure on client communications.

Speaking at a Society of Insurance Broking event, Jeff Heasman, founder and managing director of Insurance Upskill, highlighted communication strategies on which brokers should focus.

He said they should be prompt and proactive in their communications. They should prepare the language they are going to use, sign-post solutions and monitor communications to ensure they can improve them where necessary.

Liz Foster, non-executive director of the Society of Insurance Broking, said: “The coronavirus pandemic has created a hugely challenging environment for businesses and individuals in the UK and internationally, and our members have really stepped up to the plate in offering pragmatic advice and support to them during this time. The ability to communicate clearly, alongside sound technical knowledge, is invaluable.”
