Ageas has restructured its intermediated channel, ahead of the planned departure of distribution and development director Chris Dobson, who retires at the end of the year.
The changes, which the firm says emphasises its ambitions in the broker and partnership channels, feature the creation of three news directors of distribution positions. The three new roles will report to chief customer officer, Ant Middle and the appointments for two of them have been made internally.
Current head of personal lines key accounts, Darren Whittaker has been appointed as director of distribution for large personal lines brokers and affinity partnerships. His duties will include building on the firm’s large personal lines accounts, as well as leading the development of new and existing affinity partnerships, including Age Co and Connells.
Head of strategic accounts, Mark Auchterlonie has been appointed as director of distribution for large commercial lines brokers and new business development. His remit will focus on developing the firm’s commercial broker accounts, as well as identifying new business development opportunities, including insurtech, across the wider broker community.
The firm intends to recruit a director of distribution for regional brokers, niche and specialist schemes by the end of the year.
Middle said: “These internal appointments demonstrate the effectiveness of our succession plans, while also maximising our already strong and established relationships with the intermediated market.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chris Dobson for his contribution to Ageas and for his assistance in developing this new structure,” he added. “I look forward to further strengthening the team with the final appointment for the regional broker, niche and schemes role by the end of the year.”
