Aviva has appointed Amanda Blanc as an independent non-executive director, effective from 2nd January 2020.
In her latest role, Blanc served as chief executive officer for EMEA and global banking partnerships at Zurich (2018-July 2019).
Prior to that, she worked for seven years at AXA, as chief executive officer of commercial lines, chief executive of commercial lines and personal intermediary, chief executive, general insurance for the UK and Ireland and group chief executive officer for AXA UK, PPP and Ireland.
Blanc has also held senior management positions at Towergate Insurance Brokers Groupama and Commercial Union.
She was the first woman to be appointed as chair of the Association of British Insurers and was also chair of the Insurance Fraud Bureau and president of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Chairman of Aviva, Sir Adrian Montague said: “Blanc’s breadth and depth of experience of the UK and European insurance industry, and her detailed understanding of business and customers, make her an excellent addition to our board.”
