The Dublin-headquartered firm is a multi-line claims adjusting and third-party administration company which specialises in P/C, energy, jewellery claims and marine and engineering. It operates from three locations across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and offers claims solutions to brokers, insurers, MGAs and corporates.
Following the deal, Davies senior executive Peter Haran will serve as chief executive officer of Davies Claims Solutions in Ireland, reporting to UK and Ireland chief operating officer Kath Mainon. Thornton’s chief executive officer John Eves will take up a new role as chairman in Ireland. Also, senior executive at Thornton, Conor Kennedy has been appointed chief commercial officer in Ireland.
Group chief executive officer of Davies, Dan Saulter said: “Having gotten to know John and his team over the past few years, I am delighted that we have been able to bring Thornton and Davies together.
“The Thornton team brings a wealth of specialist skills, knowledge and technical expertise to Davies,” he added.
Haran believes that the combined teams can offer a deeper range of specialist skills.
Eves added: “The deal will offer our team great opportunities for their personal development and career progression, and we look forward to working with the wider Davies group.”
The deal marks Davies’s seventh acquisition in 2019. The firm is an operations management, consulting and digital solutions provider which specialises in insurance as well as financial services, utilities and communications.
