Ecclesiastical ‘most trusted’ home insurer

Ecclesiastical has retained its top spot in the Fairer Finance Home Insurance League table, beating 49 competitors including John Lewis, NatWest, Co-operative Insurance and Aviva. The firm has topped the table for the tenth time.

To establish the table, the independent consumer group Fairer Finance surveys around 20,000 UK banking and insurance customers throughout the year, asking them to rate the firms based on satisfaction and trust.

Fairer Finance then uses records from the Financial Ombudsman Service to assess complaints handling and a combination of mystery shopping and policy document reviews to evaluate transparency.

The study also shows that Ecclesiastical has improved in all four key areas measured by Fairer Finance: its customer experience score increased by 6% to 81%, 11% higher than closest rival Nationwide; it was also rated most trusted insurer by its customers, achieving a rating of 82%, 13% higher than NFU Mutual.

Ecclesiastical group chief executive, Mark Hews said: “I am delighted that Ecclesiastical has remained at the top of the Fairer Finance league table for home insurance, and that we continue to be the UK’s most trusted home insurance provider.

“While we have remained at the top of the table for the past five years, we have not become complacent and have continued to improve the service we offer to our customers,” he said. “It is therefore fantastic to see that we have seen significant improvement in our scores.

“We are absolutely committed to being the most trusted financial services group in all our markets, so it is wonderful to hear that we have the happiest customers who believe that they can trust us to do the right thing.”
