Avantia Group, which is the parent of insurer Homeprotect, is to expand its collaboration with Google Cloud following an initial collaboration that saw Avantia build a proprietary anti-fraud tool called Holmes using Google Cloud technologies.

Avantia said it would now lean more heavily on Google Cloud’s enterprise grade AI technologies – including its Vertex AI platform, its Gemini models, and BigQuery. It said this would support development in its claims and data operations.

Dan Huddart, chief technology officer at Avantia Group, said: “This collaboration with Google Cloud is a pivotal moment for Avantia and the home insurance industry. By combining our expertise with the power of Google’s Vertex AI platform, we’re setting a new bar for speed, fairness, and transparency in claims and customer care.”

He added: “Holmes is just the start and sets us on a path to developing a fully AI-led operating model.”
