The British Insurance Brokers Association has announced that members can now apply for a place on the first course run by the BIBA and Markel AI Academy. The two days of practical learning will take place on the 14th and 15th of October at Markel’s offices in Leeds.
The academy has been established to help brokers improve their ability to use AI in the course of their work. The application period to join this first cohort closes on 11th September.
Graeme Trudgill, chief executive of BIBA, said: “Our members are telling us they want to understand how they can harness the opportunities presented by AI while managing the risks. That’s why an AI training school is one of our key 2026 Manifesto commitments.”
Simon Johnston, marketing director, UK at Markel, added: “AI has the potential to fundamentally change the way brokers work, but the opportunity is about much more than technology. It’s about helping brokers use AI to save time, deliver more value for clients and create new opportunities.
“We’re delighted to be working with BIBA to turn its manifesto commitment into a practical programme that is shaped by brokers and designed around their real-world needs.”
