Carbon Underwriting to support new entrants to Lloyd’s through Syndicate 4747

Managing general underwriter Carbon Underwriting has selected three unnamed coverholders for its first year, after securing underwriting permission for its Syndicate 4747 to write two classes of business across three continents.

The syndicate will initially write international property and casualty business and believes its syndicate-in-a-box framework offers entrepreneurial new market players a quick and low-cost route to market.

Jacqui Ferrier, chief underwriting officer at Carbon Underwriting, said: “We have a clear focus on strong market entrants who meet our high entry criteria, and align with our incubation, enhancement and springboard partnership model. Carbon has carefully selected three coverholder partners for our first year.

“Syndicate 4747 is supported by our proprietary technology platform Graphene and the data insights that can be derived from this technology are critical to the drive for profitable, efficient and accurate underwriting -- all with a low expense base.”
