Sustainable motor insurance broker The Green Insurer, has had to stop writing new business after it was unable to secure new funding. The firm said all its existing policyholders had been transferred to broker Cornmarket Insurance Services Limited. The Green Insurer launched in December 2023. It collected the mileage drive by its clients, which it then offset using carbon offsetting specialists.

In a statement, The Green Insurer said: “Sadly, The Green Insurer is no longer offering policies to new and renewing customers. This was because investment in our business came to an abrupt end, and we were unable to find a suitable new investor in time.

“We are still committed to the idea of offering a sustainable alternative to standard car, van and learner driver insurance and are very sorry that this is no longer possible for us. We do hope that other sustainable offerings will be available in the future.”

The firm had achieved full B Corp certification earlier this year.
