ABI appoints Adams deputy-chair

The Association of British Insurers has appointed director of public policy and regulation at M&G, Julian Adams as deputy chair. He will serve alongside chair Jon Dye until summer 2020.

Adams was appointed to his current position earlier this year after over four years in a similar role at Prudential.

Prior to this, he was executive director of insurance supervision at the Bank of England, a role he held from April 2013. He also worked at the Financial Services Authority and served in various organisations such as the International Association of Insurance Supervisors and the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority.

Adams has been an ABI board member since 2016.

The ABI also announced the following changes: Tim Harris has been reappointed chair of the board’s prudential committee in his new role as chief financial officer, Direct Line Group; Tulsi Naidu will become member of the board’s appointments and remuneration committee; and Barry O’Dwyer will return to the board in his new role as group chief executive officer of Royal London.
