The Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters is to change its name to the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusting in a move that the organisation said would better reflect the range of professionals involved in loss adjusting activities across the claims value chain. The change was announced at its annual general meeting at which Hugh Kennaway (pictured), global head of downstream energy at Matthews Daniel, became president. Melissa Cunningham, senior vice president at Marsh was named deputy president.
CILA also announced a new corporate membership category and a revised membership structure to make it easier for professionals from other chartered bodies such as engineers and accountants to enter its qualifications framework. The professional body will also move its governance framework from a council to a board structure.
John Bissell, executive director at CILA, said: “The charter changes represent a significant evolution of the institute. They put a wrapper around what our members and firms are often already doing - working across the claims process, embracing technology, and upholding the highest professional standards - while making sure CILA remains the recognised authority for loss adjusting globally.”
